Isolation Cage for 2 Frames
Metal cage for drug-free Varroa control in the summer.
The comb pocket is made of galvanized round-bar mesh riveted to sheet metal side panels. The included lid simply snaps into place.
Principle: The Varroa mite requires capped brood cells to reproduce. If the queen is confined to the isolation comb pocket, she can only lay eggs there. While the rest of the brood in the colony develops and is capped, nearly all reproductive mites migrate to the few open brood cells inside the pocket. By removing these “trap frames,” a large portion of the mite population is physically removed from the colony.
