Sustainability & environmental protection

FAIE attaches great importance to the environment and nature conservation. Together with our partners, we align our services with ecological aspects. Below you will find an overview of exactly what FAIE is currently doing in terms of environmental protection.

FAIE is getting even greener!

FAIE is actively committed to protecting the environment and is taking numerous measures to become more sustainable. Our efforts encompass a variety of aspects aimed at minimizing our environmental footprint. By using state-of-the-art technologies and sustainable practices, we aim to make a positive contribution to the environment while improving the quality of life for future generations.

  • No plastic adhesive tape: We no longer use plastic adhesive tape wherever possible. Instead, we use environmentally friendly alternatives that are easier to recycle.
  • Recycled cartons: Our shipping boxes are made from up to 100% recycled material. This reduces waste and conserves natural resources.
  • Recycled filling material: The filling material in our parcels is also made from 100% recycled material. This is how we ensure the protection of your products and the sustainability of our packaging.
  • Paper shopping bags: We only offer paper bags in our specialist store. These are much more environmentally friendly than the cheap plastic alternative.
  • Large PV system on the roof: We have installed a large photovoltaic system on the roof of our company buildings. This system covers a large part of our electricity requirements with renewable energy.
  • Charging electric company cars: We use the solar power generated to charge our electric company car. This helps us to reduce CO2 emissions and operate more sustainably.
  • Efficient heat pump: We also operate an efficient heat pump with the electricity from our PV system. This provides environmentally friendly heating and cooling for our buildings.

Through these measures, we are actively helping to protect our environment and shape a greener future.

Disposal of old electrical appliances

Take back old electrical appliances and fluorescent or energy-saving lamps through FAIE or hand in old electrical appliances free of charge at public collection points!

Old electrical appliances as well as fluorescent tubes and energy-saving lamps (gas discharge lamps) must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be collected and disposed of separately. The electrical and electronic appliances concerned are marked with the adjacent symbol.

FAIE participates in ERA, Elektro Recycling Austria in Austria and (ZENTEK Services GmbH & Co KG in Germany) - an Austria-wide collection and recycling system for waste electrical and electronic equipment and has already paid for the collection and recycling of this waste.

It is therefore best to take old electrical appliances and gas discharge lamps to a public collection point where they will be accepted free of charge. You can obtain more information about these collection points from your local authority or the waste association.

Packaging

Packaging disposal

Packaging waste must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be collected separately and handed over for recycling. This obligation applies to packaging from both private households and commercial enterprises. Free collection of packaging as part of the public packaging collection scheme

The collection of household packaging is organized throughout Austria by the municipalities and waste associations. Packaging waste is either collected directly or must be taken to public collection points or waste collection centers. For more information on how packaging collection is organized in your region, please contact your local authority.

FAIE and its suppliers participate in an Austria-wide collection and recycling system for household packaging and have already paid for the collection and recycling of packaging waste. The packaging of the goods supplied by us can therefore be placed in the public packaging collection system free of charge. This applies to packaging that is delivered to private households and small commercial final consumers and that accumulates there as waste.

Packaging disposal in the commercial sector
The collection of packaging waste from commercial enterprises is organized individually and must be arranged with your waste disposal company. Further information can be found on the website of the Ministry of Life.

Packaging licensing:

  • Austria: Bonus collection system license no. 3201
  • Germany: BellandVision No. DE2951618109304

Battery disposal

Free disposal of old batteries and rechargeable batteries at public collection points and at FAIE!

Old batteries (portable batteries, rechargeable batteries, button cells, vehicle batteries) must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be collected and disposed of separately. Batteries, rechargeable batteries and battery packs are marked with the adjacent symbol for separate collection.

FAIE participates in Intersoh Austria GmbH in Austria (and Zentek Services GmbH & Co KG in Germany), an Austria-wide collection and recycling system for used batteries and has already paid for the collection and recycling of old batteries/rechargeable batteries. It is therefore best to take old batteries/rechargeable batteries to a public collection point where they will be accepted free of charge.

You can obtain more information about these collection points from your local authority or the waste association. In addition, old portable and vehicle batteries and rechargeable batteries can also be handed in free of charge at any retailer if they have such batteries/rechargeable batteries in their range.

Take-back of old batteries/rechargeable batteries by FAIE

We take back old batteries (portable and vehicle batteries as well as rechargeable batteries) free of charge. You can hand these over to a service employee at the FAIE specialist store!

If you order batteries (portable or vehicle batteries, rechargeable batteries) by mail order, you can also bring your old batteries to one of the collection points. Please note that old batteries/rechargeable batteries will only be accepted at these collection points during the specified opening hours.

REACH Regulation EC No. 1907/2006

The EU chemicals regulation REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) was adopted at the end of December 2006 and came into force on June 1, 2007 and applies directly in every member state.

The main objective of the REACH Regulation is to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment from potential chemical-related risks. This means that the supply chain is subject to certain registration and information obligations, e.g. for substances of concern. Substances of concern include, in particular, CMR substances, i.e. substances that are carcinogenic, mutagenic or teratogenic, PBT substances (persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic) and vPvB substances (very persistent and very bioaccumulative).

FAIE will fulfill and comply with the obligations arising from the REACH Regulation and has also contractually obligated all suppliers to comply with the corresponding requirements.

Among other things, our suppliers are obliged to comply with substance bans and declaration obligations.
