Record pesticides

The application of pesticides must be documented.

All professional users of plant protection products (including farmers and foresters) must document which plant protection product (WHAT), at what time (WHEN), in which crop and on which area (WHERE), and at what application rate (HOW MUCH). There are no formal requirements for these records.

However, it is recommended to use the template provided in the download. There are also special programs such as ÖDüPlan, which support farmers and also alert them to errors (scope of approval, maximum permitted application rate). The registration number does not need to be recorded – except for special certification programs such as AMAG.A.P. The invoices for the purchase of pesticides must be presented upon request during an inspection.

Records must be kept daily. Those who outsource crop protection work must also record the application of products on their fields.

During application, all approval requirements must be observed. Particular attention must be paid to ensuring that the size of the treated areas (e.g., be careful with shaded areas!) matches the area sizes specified in the multiple application. The legally permitted maximum application rates must not be exceeded under any circumstances; there is absolutely no tolerance here.

According to the Upper Austrian Soil Protection Act, the records must be retained for four years. Participants in ÖPUL 2015 must retain the records for 10 years, starting from the last year of participation.
