Pike baiting is a passive fishing method where the goal is not to actively seek out pike, but to offer bait and wait for the pike to appear. It's best to fish in places where you suspect a pike might be, such as overhanging bushes or similar structures.
When fishing for pike from a stand, you need a sturdy rod capable of bringing even large baitfish to the desired distance. A monofilament, such as the Pike Target Fish Line with a diameter of 0.30-0.40 mm, should be used as the main line for float fishing. For bottom fishing, a braided line such as Dyneema Green 0.16 with a breaking strain of 12.0 kg should be used. If you are offering the baitfish on a float, we recommend rubber float or thread stoppers, suitable floats from the Pike Set or target fish floats from our float ranges, shot weights, high-performance swivels, and steel leaders with a treble or single hook. The hook size depends on the size of the baitfish. For presenting bait near the bottom, hexagonal weights or pear-shaped weights weighing between 40 and 100 g attached to a Classic Feeder Boom should be used instead of a stopper and float, depending on the water. A bead should be placed between the weight and the swivel to protect the swivel knot.
