What the lumen rating says about the brightness and light of a worklight.

The physical unit lumen (lm) is used to measure the luminous flux emitted by a light source. The sensitivity of the human eye is taken into account.

The lumen value of a headlamp indicates how bright the light it emits is perceived. This makes the lumen rating a better comparative figure than the watt rating, which only indicates the power consumption of a headlamp, but not how much brightness it actually emits.
