Fishing – good for body and soul

  1. Heart and circulation
Walking to the water, carrying your equipment, and casting your rod get you moving. This promotes blood circulation. Regular, light activity strengthens your heart and circulation. Fishing from the shore, especially when you change locations frequently, keeps you fit.
  2. Muscles and joints
When casting, you use your shoulders, arms, and back. Reeling in the fish also requires strength. It is important to make smooth movements to avoid tension. Stretching exercises before and after fishing can help.
  3. Stress reduction and mental health
Nature has a calming effect. The sound of water and fresh air reduce stress. While waiting for a bite, your pace slows down. This helps your mind to switch off. Many anglers sleep better after a day by the water.
  4. Concentration and reaction
You observe the current, wind, and bait movement. A bite requires a quick reaction. This trains your attention and coordination.
  5. Vitamin D and the immune system
Sunlight promotes the production of vitamin D, which strengthens bones and the immune system. Always use sunscreen when exposed to the sun.
  6. Healthy eating
Fresh fish provides high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids. These support heart and brain health.

Fishing is therefore active recreation. You strengthen your body and mind. And you are outdoors in nature.
