Many beekeepers are reluctant to use the relarving method. Working with the breeding cassette simplifies this method considerably. The queen is locked into the cassette and lays her eggs directly into the cups attached to the back of the honeycomb grid. This means that the larvae are in the queen cell right from the start and can be easily transferred.
Application:
Remove the barrier grid and protective plate and fit the breeding cassette in an empty frame.
Place the queen cups in the designated places.
Close the protective plate and hang it in the hive for 2 days without the barrier grid. Tip: Grease the plastic box with wax to make it more attractive to the bees.
After the bees have familiarized themselves with the 'foreign body', the barrier is attached and the queen is added through the entrance hole.
After a further 2 days, the cups are usually pinned and can be transferred to the prepared breeding frame and then hung in suitable care colonies.
